Question about an ebay vendor?
Hey,
I won a orchid from ebay seller antiques1904 two weeks ago and I am having a bit of trouble getting it here (not repsonding to emails). Just wanted to know if anyone has purchased from them in the past. Hopefully everything is okay because I really want that orchid. Ebay is the greatest thing since sliced bread for the orchid hobbyist. First problem I have had with a seller there.

I am not familiar with that eBay seller ..
May I suggest a look in the Vendor Feedback forum - there are quite a few thread on reliable eBay sellers .. Baldan's Orchids is one off the top of my head ..

Hey Dorothy,
I fell in love with your avatar and I am waiting on my Riverbend Zuma Beach any day now from Baldan's Orchids. I have used several ebay vendors. PC Orchids, My Phals, and Orchids Alive. Really happy with all of them. I kind of jumped on an orchid I wanted at a really really good price before asking the vendor any questions. Now I am kind of in limbo. Was it shipped? Is it lost? Hopefully they will respond to one of my emails soon.

I have learned after a few heartaches to be careful as to what vendors I use despite having a desired orchid. I check feedback .. even if there is one negative .. I look to see what the problem was .. I check antique1904's feedback and there was some buyers controversy. Hopefully your dilemma will be resolved.
and if nothing else, a lesson well learned

I also check antiques1904 feedback and there seems to be a recurring problem with slow to ship, no communication, poor packing, etc.
Next time (and I know this is difficult) check feedback before bidding no matter how much you want the plant. I've done the same thing you have, caught up in the moment and then wished I had taken a few minutes before jumping in. I chock it up to a lesson learned and won't buy from them again. I never leave negative or neutral feedback........just no more business from me...

Thanks Everyone,
To be honest I did check there feedback and some of the recent neg feedback wasn't there yet. However, I have learned a lesson. If it doesn't feel right ( which it didn't ) don't do it. The orchid I was after was a Phal. Lobbii, I now that it isn't really rare, but the one they had was about to end and it was cheap. I guess there was a reason it wasn't bid on. I know better. I have been using Ebay since 1998. I guess it was this case of orchid fever I can't seem to shake.

Don't sweat it Neil, you and I aren't the only ones to experience that fever. Let's hope some others that haven't have read this thread and we can save them the experience. And, hey, it may all work out o.k........
