Exotic Orchids of Maui - Vandas
Some of y'all probably saw my post about vandas colonizing my shower in my extra bathroom... Well, I ordered some additional vandas from Exotic Orchids of Maui. Now, I have received from wonderful cattleya seedlings from them in the past for a very reasonable price, so I had high expectations for their vanda "seedlings". These were $12 each and came in 3" baskets with a hanger. I figured they would be seedlings but they are much bigger... Pretty mind blowing for $12 each. Look at those roots! You have to place a $100 minimum but they ship next day and on priority overnight. I am a big fan of these guys!

...and they gave me a free plant, Dendrobium Angel Baby "Green Ai". I have been looking for this fragrant hybrid, almost bought it from J&L last week, glad I didn't!

Yup, they are a great place from which to order orchids. In years past, I would do group orders with fellow orchid society members as they had a bunch of young orchids for six or eight dollars and it takes quite a few of those to get to $100 (and to make that shipping worth it). But wow, I was always impressed with what I would receive.

I can see that, Ray. I had to do group orders as it took so many orchids to get to $100. The quality was very good and many of the crosses promised nice results. They still do cloning and their own crosses which is not as common as it once was.

I bought these. Size was nothing to write about, but most of them were $6 and totally worth it.
Pcv. Key Lime Stars 'Valley Isle' x self 4N
C. labiata 'Exotic Orchids' x self
C. harrisoniana 'Volcano King' FCC/AOS x self
Blc. Lester McDonald 'Exotic Orchids' FCC/AOS
Rlc. Akimi Hanada 'Brazil 12' AM/AOS x Rlc. Cantagalo 'Floralia's Spots' AM/AOS
C. aclandiae 'Super' 4N x self
C. maxima 'Exotic's Dark Jewel' x C. maxima 'Dark Joy'
Ctna. Why Not 'Makana Ke Akua' x self
C. leopoldii 'Valley Isle Sentinel' x self
However, then there are these:
C. gaskelliana var. coerulea 'Blue Dragon' x C. walkeriana var. coerulea 'Blue Moon'
Which are virused. All 5 of them. Including the gaskelliana x purpurata 'freebie' they sent me.
