Question Dendrophylax where can I buy one?

Hi everyone,

I am really interested in expanding my collection of leafless orchids. I only have chilos now and want to get dendrophylax, any ideas where I can find them for sale?
Or maybe there are some members in the forum who grows a lot of them and though of selling:big grin:?

I know others here have bought them in the past but I don't know where they got them, and I'm not sure they are available in the UK.

Just be aware that often these are very tiny when bought, expensive, and are difficult to care for. Many very experienced growers struggle with them. Our conditions in the UK are very different to those in the swamps where they grow in the USA and as such unless you can recreate those conditions you are unlikely to be successful with them.

It's a shame because I think they are wonderful, but personally I don't think I could grow one.

A lot of the people you have been asking where they bought theirs are in the USA. There are a lot of legal paperwork requirements for shipping orchids out of the USA and or shipping orchids into Europe. I think some orchids can't be moved between countries.

You should read everything you can about the natural habitat, and everything possible written by people that have successfully grown and flowered this species.

In nature, they grow within a very narrow height range above the surface of the swamps where they are native. This narrow range is high enough so that they are not often flooded in the swamps, but close enough to the water so that they stay slightly warmer and don't freeze when temperatures drop below freezing in Florida in mid-winter.

I have been growing orchids for more than 30 years, and I don't think I have the skills to grow a D. lindenii.
