Vanda yellow leaves middle stem
Problem in vanda paradise
Well, the NOID with fragrance that I was so happy few weeks ago, now after blooming has three yellow leaves at the middle of the stem. What´s wrong? Sometimes I have seen pics with this problem but only concerning to one leaf, but three?
We are having our "winter" (20º-30ºC) and with some weird rains (our raining season is from May to October). This week we had rains at night so I could suppose that it was water in the leaves axils. I´m not worry with night rains during summer, because the temperature is high in those months, but now maybe rains added with "lower" temperature, the water stayed longer during the night...
Any advice?
I have no change my growing schedule... all the other vandas are OK!
HELP!!!! Thanks
I attach a pic from year beginning where you can see at right how healthy was the plant.

Mineral/nutrient deficiency can and does cause yellowing of leaves. A fair bit of energy also gets used to flower which may highlight any pre existing issues. What fertiliser regime are you following? Vandas are very hungry and I'd say in your neck of the woods grow season is year round.

THANKS!!!... I use a balanced fertilizer, here we don´t have the chance to find a great variety about fertilizers, but I fertilize once a week.
It sounds logical that after two spikes from last year (you see the spikes remains when bloomed in August and then in December) the plant is exhausted. By the way I started to don´t wait that flowers begin to wilt to cut the spike. I prefer when the last bud is open, enjoy the spike for one week while this last bud is stretching and then I cut the spike. The plant is using all its energies to keep the flowers alive, so I think I can help to keep that energy to continue growing. And I enjoy the cut flowers in my office for more than 2 weeks...
Again thank you... I really appreciate it.

My vanda has lost several leaves while maintaining flowers on three spikes for six weeks. I don't fertilize enough probably and the plants don't get enough light in the winter either. Hopefully it's nothing more than that.

I fertilise twice a week at half strength. I also have a big bottle of trace elements which from time to time I use also, just to try and even up any deficiency that may occur.

I should add that not all fertiliser is equal, sometimes it is missing essential elements. Always pays to check.
Also water PH plays a big part in ability of some fertiliser elements even being able to become water soluble in the first place. If it can't be made soluble, chances are the plant can't absorb it either.

OK!!! great comments that I really appreciate. Thanks!! Now are just two leaves that are yellowish. Soon they fall down. I will start to fertilize twice per week...
And by the way: the Pure's Wax is growing a new spike!!! Yes, here in my neck of the woods (I learned this expression from you) the growing season is year round.
