Keep doing what you're doing Bud; despite the conditions, you are still able to enjoy such beauties, and that cannot be ignored.

Oh, I see. The dish is the reservoir. I haven't tried vandas in s/h but the next one I receive, I may.
I have reed stemmed epi, den, blc and phals in s/h in lava rock. They are all doing well, except for my new blc that I managed to cook during a heat wave!

I drill holes at the bottom of the glass vase and let the dish serve as the reservoire....the water level is determined by the water inside the dish....I find it easier to flush the plant clean if the holes are at the bottom ....I have the plastic vessels with holes on the sides and I find it harder to flush it and algae formation is hard to solve; thats why I learned how to drill holes on glass

REBLOOM 2014
This orchid plant gave me bigger, flatter and with vivid color blooms....in its 4th year under my care and this plant is now 9 years old....
The robust roots are dislodging the clay pellets and pretty soon I need to put this in a bigger glass container....this kind of Vandacious orchid really love S/H

I love the color, Bud! Great growing!
I am happy you mentioned that this is the plant in your avatar; I would never have guessed because of the color difference.
