Well, it's been three weeks, and my vanda now has not one, not two, not three, but four new brown roots breaking through from the two surviving large roots. And it looks like there are two lumps from new large roots on the stem. She's coming back to life!

great -
I think it is easier to kill a phal hybrid from home depot than a Vanda... unless you got a runt.
mine I wonder if tehy will ever bloom but there are new roots.
I keep em hanging on the window, no medium just half of a 2 l plastic bottle to enclose the roots.
the seedlings in a basket with coco chips and some leca. i think they need more humidity.

Mine is in a wide vase--I can't have it in a narrow-necked vase because one of the thick roots thinks that it's part of Salvador Dali's moustache. I have about an inch of water in the bottom (out of reach of the roots) and I mist it once or twice a day. Probably not enough, but I can't baby it all day because of work.

Of the new set-up, not yet. I'll try to get some on the weekend, though (I'm commuting long-distance to a new job for a while, so my nights are generally very brief).

Well, it's been more than a weekend. Better late than never! Sorry the photos stink. Our camera is being serviced so I had to take these with my cell phone.
Some nice roots growing in there!

I'm back!
I'm happy to report that my vanda's roots are doing quite nicely. I've cut off a bit more dead growth and I have no fewer than eight new roots starting!
I am, however, worried about how much water it's been getting. I moved recently, and my apartment is noticeably drier than my parents' house. The leaves are getting a bit of a wrinkle to them and the edges are a light beige when looking at them in profile (only on the edges though; the leaves themselves are still a light green). Should I be watering more often?
I currently soak it once or twice a week and spray once or twice daily with a highly diluted fertilizer solution (1/8 teaspoon of 12-2-14-6CA-3MG per four gallons of water). I've been using distilled, but the tap water in my area is supposed to be very good so I may switch to that. No water softener is needed, that I know of. It's sitting in a vase on a gravel tray filled with water with two other large orchids and three smaller ones nearby.
