I have better pictures somewhere, but these will do.These are pictures of one of my blooms back in Jan. with two different vandas blooming together as one. They grew attached and I think it looks pretty cool. So, to answer your question, no harm done.

REALLY COOL SWAMPER!
I cant wait for mine to start really growing and blooming...

What kind of lighting do you have yours in?

Mine are outside and recieve sun from say 7am till 1130 then just shade for the rest of the day untill about 6 or so dappled sunlight (slightly) ...

One of my Vandas (red) is getting like darker leaves on it.. notice earlier pictures and im worried what this is... I have no idea, but for now I just cut the fertilizer out of the equation and mist daily with distilled water (misting the roots and body of the plant

Any tips?

Sounds lke you are giving it enough sun. See if you can give it more sun after 3pm. Try to find a sunnier spot. Mine get green if I have them under a tree and a little lighter with a yellow tint when I bring them out closer to fuller sun. I have been told at RF Orchids that this is the right color, although it doesn't sell as well as the greener color.
I don't know about misting. To me it's a waste of time unless it's a yearling or something. I water mine straight from the hose, drenched. I don't stop watering at least till I see the color change in the roots. Even the ones I am growing that came from a flask get watered with the same method.

Well, I shouldnt say misting then really... haha
I use one of those hair wetting bottles you can buy at like walmart, and fill it with mostly distilled water and a little bit of Better~Gro Orchid Growth Fertilizer (high Nitrogen no urea) water in with it and spray the mess outta them untill the roots turn from pasty looking to nice and green and I "mist" the folliage too...
sound good?

Default Vanda Leaf Problems

I live in the North, and right now it's getting cold and dry. I know Vandas need 80% humidity, and I soak my Vanda every morning and night for 10 min. in distilled water and orchid fertilizer.

My Vanda leaves are doing something weird lately. I've only had it a few weeks but the edges are splitting, and the edges are yellowing. Please see images below if you can identify and tell me how to treat this. It would be a lot of help to me. Thanks.

Hi Satine, I don't grow vandas, sorry - just wanted to suggest you start a new thread - I think you might get more members seeing your question and photos, and hopefully more responses that way

Oh I just now saw that you have started a separate thread - good luck!
