Here is another one of my Ascocendas, Ascda. Motes Tangelo (V. denisoniana x Ascda. Motes Mandarin)...first time blooming for me. It was a keiki off of a huge mother plant when I received it last spring. The colors are off a little bit, but you can still see the soft orange tones towards the middle of the mainly pink blooms.
Also, I accidentally re-made this cross using a different V. denisoniana than was used in the original. This should at least produce some different looking offspring from teh original cross.
I know, how does one accidentally re-make an orchid hybrid? Well, when I looked up crosses made with V. denisoniana (there are 103 F1 crosses), I did not see Ascda. Motes Mandarin on the list (I should note this was pre-Orchid Wiz time for me). In any event, I discovered the "accident" when I added this guy to my database when I got it. When entering the parentage, I went....wait just a minute...
...I've got this cross growing in the lab! And there you have it.
I do have about 100, plus or minus, little cousins to this one growing in flasks.
Enjoy!
