Back in Homestead getting lost again. I read somewhere that these prefer a slightly colder climate but I thought I'd try it anyway. It is possibly one of the parents of my Aerides V.Photisan which I posted here previously. I wish it had more yellow and less green but I think it's still going to be nice. The spots are also not what I was looking for but it'll have to do for now. I'll post more pics when the blooms open fully in a couple of days. Here's some pics.
If they require cooler conditions I have't heard. Martin Motes has them on his trees in Homstead (and R.F. probably does too) and they do fine - and have for years.
The unusual thing about V. denisoniana is that it is fragrant at dusk rather than at noon.
Thanks Eric,I got it at Bonjong orchids and they also have a monster growing that they've had over 15 yrs, but I had read differently so I hesitated till yesterday. I guess Im a slow learner.
You jelous? With all the beautiful vandas you have? I'm trying to keep up with you LOL
I only have like 15 or so...hehehe... I guess it is bad when you lose count. Somehow I just keep aquiring them! LOL. You should see Jackie's vanda house (only one part of her 3 part shadehouse!) she has probably at least 50 + varities.
I do have some seedlings (not really seedlings anymore) that I am willing to trade or give to someone if they ever want to meet for an orchid swap...
If I ever get up that way I would definately like to see what you've got and Jackie too maybe have Dave and Susanne, hell lets just have a Fla swap meet
I am soooo jealous!!!! I really envy you vanda lovers who can just walk in, look the vandas over, and pick whatever you want. That would be a dream come true. I'm sure it would be very hard on my check book if someone let me loose in a vanda greenhouse.
Once a year I can pick out a blooming vanda from a display at our GVOS show. Natt's always had some nice ones, if you can get early.
