Hi Steve, the plant likes medium to strong light, especially in winter, stronger light will be helpful for its spike development.
As for watering, the species tolerates drier condition and water them only when the medium totally dry out.
Here in Taiwan, most people grow their plant mounting on the slab or in coarse medium, like tree fern fibers.

The species can also stand low temperature (about 5-degree Celsius), but in cold days, keep the medium dry is needed to prevent roots rooting.

Anyway, it is an easy plant to cultivate. Help you can grow it.

Hi Roy,
I don't grow Vdps. gigantea but it sometimes can be seen in our flower markets.
As I know, it is a very large plant, liking warm to hot weather and a lot of sunlight. Unlike common vandas, it is a robust species and can stand colder and drier condition.

Steve
The species can be grown like cattleyas, dendrobiums or other vandas. It likes bright light, which is helpful for it to bloom. I water it like other vandas in spring till early winter and reduce water in cold winter. It is an easy plant to grow in our tropical lowland.
