Hi,
I have three different types of plants that are exhibiting similar patterns. The three plants are Ren Nancy Chandler"Red Dragon", Trevor Rath. "Bonjong and a Princess Mikasa. I have had them for several months and take good care of them. Only two weeks ago did they start loosing leaves from the bottom. The stalk on the Ren. s yellow with several leaves yellow to the midway point. I keep them under lights, soak them weekly mist them daily, and there doesnt appear to be any sort of infestation. Can someone help my plants losing leaves, adn yellwing.
Treefingers, there is a number of postings regarding this type of problem within this forum that may need to refer too for help, its a very good section. Also, could you please post a pic or two of the plants, its a big help. You would need to supply the temp and humidity you grow at as well. There are too many variants that may cause your problem and is too hard to cover all well.
You know... sometimes vandas just lose their leaves. The bottom ones are old, so they might just decide to lose them. I've got a vanda that lost leaves from the middle, and I've been told that that's normal too ( so long as it's one or two... not all of them ) I've been told that sometimes this happens when vandas get cold. Any chance that's the cause?
sorry about that here are two pictures, hope they are of decent enough quality.
I keep my place in the mid 70s to mid 80s, humidity level, I do not know.
Thanks for the pics and info. The Renanthera looks like a normal reaction for the plant, something I personally wouldn't worry about unless the leaf drop increases rapidly. Its just adjusting to your conditions. The Vanda pic indicates to me that you have had a fungal infection in that upper leaf area from the misting maybe. If you are going to mist, only do the root area. There may be a lack of air movement also to assist with the drying out.
Other than that the plants look healthy and if the roots are good and solid, not rotting also, I would continue on but watch the watering. These plants need to dry out during the day not necessarily be be watered every day if they are not drying out.
Mistking

Thanks I put a fan near them. The area that you are referring to is where it had two spikes.
The rot could be a result from those old spikes as they die off and being kept wet. Cut them off much longer next time and trim them back once they have dried out completely. A light fungicide in the area won't hurt either.
