In Thailand rhynchostylis gigantea orchids are called elephant orchids. To my knowledge, there are only two subspecies recognized. But to the grower and buyer, the plants are broken down by the color and other variations. This thread is about Rhynchostylis gigantea 'dark red'.

Thanks for the reply. I don't understand the meaning of your reply. Did I miss something or mess up something?

You didnt mess up a thing, but if you did and it was me, I would hope to keep on doing it. You have beautiful flowers over there. Thanks for sharing!

Once you have spots, you don't "get rid" of them... Many possibilities, but if they don't spread too much, the plant will be fine. (Some orchids just have ugly leaves by nature) The ones shown get lots of ligfht, lots of heat, lots of humidity. They may bave even acquited the spots years ago. They loon healthy, they bloom. I would not worry abotu these plants.

This species likes less sun than the average Vanda so maybe you can give them hang in less sun exposed spots in your growing area.

I grow mine right with my vandas under 60% shade cloth and misted for 10 minutes, twice a day.
