I just got this little one in the mail and it's potted up in sphagnum moss.
I have no idea how to water an orchid in pure moss. I do use it at the top of a few of my pots and mixed in here and there. I've also never cared for an orchid this small. I read that sphagnum moss is nice for growing seedlings in because they dry out so quickly, so perhaps since this orchid is so small it should stay in moss?
Eventually down the road when it's bigger I'd like to put it into a wooden vanda basket, but that's probably best done when it's a little older/bigger.
Ive been reading about care, but I saw someone mention that these orchids require slightly different care than other orchids. So, I have a few phaleanopsis minis that are doing really well (seem to like to dry a bit more) and some oncidiums (like to not get as dry) and a millenium magic in spike.
Is there some specific or major differences you can think of? Any tips for an orchid so young and tiny?
Do young orchids like highee humidity? Im around 50%.
Thanks!
