Yeah. Think where Spanish moss naturally grow. Places like the bayou, warm and humid. You should have an easier time if you leave it near the swamp cooler.
The Ascocentrums haven't been a problem water/humidity-wise. Aside from the two in vases, I have one bare-root mounted and one plastic potted in bark (original vendor potting). Just a matter of how much you want to be involved. ---------- Post added at 04:37 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:48 PM ---------- After writing the above, I realized I've never gone this long in vendor media (3.5 months) . Thought some roots were goners but they had new tips. I potted it up in my preferred media (LECA) in a net pot and went with Nat's suggestion of clay outer pot. This won't be a problem 3/4 of the year but when the temps drop, I'll have to remember to heat-mat it.

I may have to put mine on a heat mat in the winter also. I just may put the little one sense it has to stay in the net pot inside a clay pot with Leca or bark and perhaps put Spanish Moss over the roots of the bigger plant. I'm not sure if I am going to re-pot it or not. See how it goes.
Thanks everyone for your help. |
