Here's something to look forward too.
Mine is coming into bloom now. A faint fragrance in the morning.
Enjoy

its trying to blast the smaller spike. most of the buds are gone already so I guess it has blown up.. The other 2 look fine but 1 did lose 2 buds...This happens fast and I still dont know why.

This has to be the most frustrating plant I have ever had in my life!
One of the spikes on mine looks like it is blasting and the other one is showing about three buds at the tip developing, but very slow. can't even tell if they are getting bigger or dying. lol
Seriously, the spikes showed up last September.
I almost want to toss this out and lower my blood pressure. hahaha

Fingers crossed that it doesn't lose any more spikes!!
I got the same one as a seedling 3 years ago, and it finally seems large enough to bloom. And now the plant is covered in a bunch of odd virus like markings. I nurture the thing for years, and this is the payment I get....

Probably the blasting is a trait it inherited from it's Neo "blood".
I found that when these hybrids start spiking, don't move them in any way an keep on watering/fertilizing as usual.
When moving the plants before the flowers start opening, it's a sure thing to lose them.
This is the case with most Neostylis hybrids in my collection.

Pinky update: I have 3 different clones (and two of 'Starry Night', which is the smallest plant). Till now each plant has only bloomed once a year. Just noticed that 'Moonlight', which bloomed back in December, has another spike that will open in the next 7-10 days.
I guess that once the plants get large enough, we might see more frequent blooming.

Virus-like markings?
Mine is rather heavily marked with dark purple sunspots.
Anyway, how big is your plant? number of leaves I guess?
Mine just blasted both spikes.
This is by far the worst plant I've ever had. I had it for three years at least and every year it would spike but blast. and very slow. (spike appeared last September! I read that one of its bigger parent is a slower grower in general, so maybe that's why, but this is just very frustrating. wonder if this is a common trait of this hybrid? My friend's plant is much larger with over twenty leaves, but it also shows the history of blasting. The dead and dry old spikes that did not develop much, at least three of them down the "trunk" of the plant.
I almost want to pitch it now and buy a new one.

How old are your Starry Night? number of leaves?
What color is the Moonlight clone?

@NYorchidman
My two 'Starry Night' plants are still relatively small. I have had them for 2-3 years. The one in bloom now has 6-8 leaves.
Where 'Starry Night' undoubtedly was bred with NF as the pod parent, both my 'Red' & 'Moonlight' clones were bred with RG as the pod parent, as they are much bigger plants (about 10" across).
'Moonlight' opens pale green, and fades to pale yellow, with light pink stippling on the petals. See photo below.
I think that the timing is right, so I will try to get 'Moonlight' to AOS judging this time around.

It has the dark purple spots, but has some other weird black markings that make pits in the leaves, and some form circular shapes which I don't like. Could be the microfungus I'm dealing with on a number of Phals, but just different symptoms on such thick leaves.
As to the blasting, I've read that this is something that it has inherited from its Neo falcata parent, which can also be excessively prone to blasting. Not sure if getting a new one will solve your problem since it sounds more like cultural issues.

I just had a very close look on mine and it has lots of little purple spots and circular things, and one big long purple mark. hmmmm
I just thought they were due to the sun as the sunny side of the plant has a lot more than the other side.
I only have a few neos but I find neos very easy and willing bloomer. I heard the other parent is super slow? maybe that's why??
Anyway, I am super frustrated. I want to steam cook it! painful death! hahaha
I just ordered a different color form of neostylis Pinky. The dark flowered form. I hope it is a better behaving plant. will see.
