Default Neostylis Lou Sneary 'Bluebird' in bloom

Neofinetia falcata x Rhynchostylis coelestis

I have two of these, which were once one plant. Due to my constant over-watering the first year I had it, it was in poor shape, and "self-divided"

First time for this one to bloom. The other fan (similar size) has bloomed three times since recovering from my poor care. This one has started spikes a few times, but all aborted while small (it was growing another spike along with this one, but it aborted). - For that matter, I seem to get quite a few aborted spikes on all my Neostylis' (the two Lou Snearys, and a Pinky)

Potted in chc mix, (3.5") clay pot, watered when nearly dry - dry. Growing on windowsill that gets some mid - late afternoon sun.

1.25" nicely fragrant blooms. Leaf span (tip to tip), approx. 7". 6" approx. height.

Thanks for looking

This is a lovely plant Sonya and beautiful blooms. I have two of these---very large compared to Neofinetia. I'm glad to see they bloom at this time of year. All of mine bloomed this past October.

Thank you all!

Judging by mine, they seem to be free bloomers. My other Lou Sneary has bloomed couple of timed a year.

These are offered at a farmer's market lately.
I put down my urge to get one as I have recently purchased a seed grown Ascofinetia (I know old name but it makes things clearer I think) cherry blossom and a small vanda.

Yours have really uniform bloom. The ones at the market had flowers all dropped off at random spots. maybe due to rough shipping out to the market.

How often does yours bloom?
I always see this advertised as "frequent" bloomer that blooms throughout the year, but I do not buy that.

Thanks

I was pretty sure my other one had bloomed three times in (around) 2 years, but I may be mistaken... It bloomed this past January, and does have a small spike now - but the spikes can be very slow growers for periods, and I have had several abort while small ... But, with this one blooming now, it does seem that they aren't locked into a particular season. My Neost Pinky also seems to get spikes at various times of year, tho that one also has at times very slow (or even stalled) spikes, and I've had a few abort ...

I see!

Speaking of Pinky.

I got a small but in spike plant in the fall years back.
It was mounted and mounted plants do not do well for me as they simply get dry too fast too much.

Well, I ended up blasting the spike.
It grew leaves in the spring and summer, then spiked again in the fall, which my lazy watering blasted again. So, I think fall is the season for mine (though I read it too bloom throughout the year).

Earlier this year, I thought I was getting tired of this one and thought about pitching. I know, my bad habit. but then I remembered how much I paid for the little thing and at least I had to see it flower.

I decided to take it off the mount to make it easier for me to deal with it. I now have this and all my other mounted mini orchids "half potted" with moss.
They are staying moist at the roots and all are much happier this way. Gosh, why did I not do this earlier?

I hope to finally see the flowers this fall.
Most likely spotted, but I read it could turn out all read, which will also be nice!

Are yours potted?
Did you keep yours dry while spiking?

Or it could be that they need to get much bigger to bloom properly. but mine did develop the spikes fine, only my underwatering finished them. lol
