Neo spiking?
I've had this Neofinetia Falcata since last September was starting to worry. The roots have been growing and look great, but I had yet to notice any new fans or growth on existing ones. To my delight, I noticed what I think are new spikes growing from one of the larger fans. I've attached some pics, sorry they're kind of blurry.
When should I see new fan growth?

They are definitely spikes
New fans will start usually in late summer early fall. Looks like a spike at the very beginning but with more pointy extremities

Congrats on your spikes. All I ever got was new fans until last month. Grass is always greener...

Awesome!
Mine grow new fans at different times. Neos are considered monopodial - they grow up like Vandas. But, they do also get new fans, but won't necessarily get new fans every year.

Yep, clear enough to see that they are spikes.
Mine is in bloom.
You will LOVE the fragrance at night!

Thanks, I'm really stoked to see spikes. I noticed the beginnings of two spikes on another fan tonight. When I picked up the plant last year it had been in bloom for a while so ill get to enjoy it more this summer. It's planted in coarse bark and there are LOTS of aerial roots. I mist the aerial roots in between waterings but I'm tempted to repot (after flowering of course) using the traditional moss ball as it looks much neater.
It initiated spikes a week after moving it to the back yard, maybe just a coincidence I don't know. I guess I'll keep it out there until its fully blooming then bring it back indoors so we can enjoy the fragrance.

Here are a couple photos from this morning:
You can see two tiny spikes forming on the second fan.
This one shows the progress on the original fan.
