You certainly did splurge, Matt. But you're worth it. Can't wait to see them.

Hihi Neofinetia 2014!!! My two Neos are fine and will take photos of them for everyone here to see.

So let me tell you about Neo2014. In my mind, Neo is a petite, attractive, short blonde-haired, very fit, wealthy lady who lives an a gorgeous apartment in Toronto. She looks like this:

If you are into murder mysteries, you recognize that that photo is of famous author Patricia Cornwell. But in my mind, that is how Neo2014 looks.

While perusing Neos at the Flora Peculia booth at the Cape and Islands Orchid show, I met the owner Terry and his friend, Leslie. When I found out they are from Toronto, I said, oh this wealthy lady who lives in a floor to ceiling windowed apartment in Toronto who is on orchidboard as Neofinetia2014 must be one of your customers. To which Leslie said, "I am Neofinetia2014, I'm that lady." Anyone who has met Leslie knows he is a handsome man. Just too funny and it gave us a lot to laugh about the entire weekend.

If you're in the New England area and are shopping for Neos, Terry and Leslie will be at the New Hampshire Orchid Society Show and Sale, February 13-15 at the Radisson in Nashua NH.

See you there!

This past Thursday, April 2nd, I was watching an eBay auction for a Sedirea Japonica x Vandopsis parishii (HYOU 豹). Starting price for this plant was US$29.99. When the auction ended, the winning bid was US$153.50.

There must be something very special about this plant. A couple of days before this particular auction, I also bought this hybrid for $30.00.. It was not in spike like the first plant. I suspect my (way) less expensive plant is a year from blooming.

Here is the $153+ plant:

And my cheap plant:

Some one acquired a very lovely MIYAKOHABUTAE 都羽二重! It started expensive @ $249 and the fortunate winner got it for $354!

Take a bow! Congratulations!

I got up at 3am this morning (03 May) to watch the bidding on another plant to see if I won it--which I did! But there was another plant, up for bidding that went sky high! It started at $25 and was finally won at $255! It is a lovely plant but not a particularly rare plant...
