These buggers are hard to catch. I don't like to use glue traps, but they were mostly ignoring the snap traps, whether baited with cheese, bacon or peanut butter. Oh, and before I learned that I need to bait the underside of the trigger, they were licking peanut butter off the top of the trigger, without setting off the trap. So, as much as I don't like glue traps from a humaneness perspective, all is fair when they start messing with my orchids. I found good peanut butter-scented glue traps sold bulk on Amazon, about $25 for a 75 count box, but so far they are ignoring these as well. I even baited most of them with a little piece of chocolate, after reading that mice love chocolate.
The mice already had destroyed a few Phals, nibbling a little on leaves, but mostly digging into the medium to chew up roots.
For now, I just move all my neos to a high shelf every night, which they haven't found their way to yet. Today I have to get around to setting up my 2 micro Greenhouses (Ikea Socker brand), which I was intending to use for wintering them near a cracked-open window. I've got 2 tiny 60mm computer fans to provide air circulation in the micro greenhouses.

Jay is providing a public service. Lol.
I know most on here like to collect different varieties which is great. I seem to have more specific tastes and those are bean leaf and tigers. And so instead of growing my collection in variety i tend to grow mine with adding fans to ones I already have. This is probably cheating but I have bought several fine examples of setsuzen, a tiger stripe, and now have a very nice group of plants. Now, if I could get them all away from the threat of rot I'll be very very happy. It seems I'm winning the war on that front at least but I must ask you all to knock on wood as you read this!
My next goal is to replace my kinrokaku which I got from NWO when Dr Glenn was in Denver visiting. It was a gorgeous plant but I fear it'll be thrown out due to infection. It came healthy of course but got sick from a bad plant that was brought in. I may yet save it but I won't risk getting others sick with it either.

I see New World has a bid for their Fuukiden (Tuesday), which had a starting price of 795. Appears to be the same bidder who was along for most of the price run-up in Ginger's Fuji Nishiki last month. That same person also won the Kishu Ryokufu from NWO today for the starting price of 80 (that was the plant that had earlier been bid much higher, 187.50, until the other bidder cancelled).
As I mentioned previously, I'll probably bid late on the Suikaden (Tuesday), to replace the one the mouse nibbled on.

I just noticed that Jayfar. I was wondering if there was going to be a bidder for this plant. I actually met this plant, even took its picture back in the halcyon days of late summer. I could not afford it then either. Whomever this person is, I hope they enjoy this plant and the others s/he has won these past three months.

At last, the wait is over Seed Engei is shipping me plants! I hope they come no earlier than this Friday, since it will get up to 33*F by Friday--a veritable heat wave!

My 2 (Junihitoe bean leaf and Enkai glossy leaf) shipped today too and usually arrive in 2 days, so Wednesday afternoon most likely. At least it will be in the 20s that day. Tuesday we expect high around 12 with wind gusts to 40 mph. Single digit lows for tonight and tomorrow night.
I probably should have paid extra for heat packs, but I'm sure they'll hold up okay without.
UGH!!!! Your Fort Wayne current conditions:

Acquiring Neofinetias Via EBay
Tell me about it! I had to use vacation day to stay home. Allen County (Fort Wayne) declared a state of emergency, only emergency and police personnel allowed on the streets. Other motorist will be stopped and ticketed. So I stayed home and watched Rachel Ray, Kelly and Michael, Dr Os, how do these shows stay on the air? Ended up watching a lot of Netflix.
The cold weather is on its way to you--7*F predicted for Philly tomorrow,
I ordered heat packs, just in case.

Yay for -18* weather tomorrow! All the local schools are cancelling school tomorrow. Canada is most definitely laughing at us. It's ridiculous.
