No major changes with my Neofinetias. I'm transitioning them to dormancy soon, even though a couple of them don't want to rest yet and are instead, still growing roots (Looking at you, Momoyama-Nishiki).

On a side note, I know a few other people had their Neostylis Lou Sneary 'Blue Bird' already in bloom. Mine JUST started opening flowers this week and it has been fantastic. I was a little scared that there would be little to no fragrance at first. Because the first flowered that opened gave off no scent to me, but after the 3rd and 4th flower opened, I could totally smell it from a short distance. I missed their beautiful fragrance so much.

Right here!!!

The leaves on your Lou Sneary are nice. i have noticed that there are two different types of leaves exhibited for different Lou Sneary's of the same seedling population that we have in the greenhouse. Most have the more straggly less uniform leaves that are typical, but some have nicer, wider, more uniform leaves such as yours. i'm wondering if for that particular cross the Neofinetia used might have had some bean leaf traits in it's lineage somewhere.

Gorgeous!!!
I had to read this thread from the beginning and it was very informative. I've had my Neos for 2 (one for 4 years) and they did nothing! Until I moved to my newest apartment. Here I had root growth, new leaves... It was exciting!!! Especially since these plants break your bank!
I loved seeing your windowsill lined with Neos. When I saw your Kuroshinjo I wanted to grab it and run. Ha ha~ I had one but it died. Haven't been able to find/afford one since.
Hopefully in this new living sitch I can get beautiful blooms like yours!
Thanks for sharing your collection.

Yup!! I adore the beautiful planted freshwater tanks and it pushed me to buy a tank about 2 years ago. I've got some beautiful Angelfish in it (hybrids though) and the plants have changed quite a bit since I got it. I had my portion of bad luck with the tank itself in the beginning (2nd handed tank... the newer, way more expensive one is without trouble now) and since then the plants have been off and on beautiful and overgrown up until a few months ago when I got an algae growing in the tank that I just can't seem to eliminate. I think it's some kind of blanket weed but it just doesn't want to be destroyed by the stuff that should normally kill it.... and it grows as fast as mushrooms do in a damp humid place....FAST!
anyway my last product I was a little reluctant to use it but I had no choice left. it's a herbicide and it still hasn't really killed it completely but has slowed it down but now my plants seem to be affected by it to in some way..... so long story short: I love it, but now it's far from the beautiful it was at one point.

And back on topic: U have such an amazing collection of neofinetia's that anyone can just be jealous for! Or that's what I think of it . Good luck with the planted aquarium!

greetz,
Dries

Hey y'all!

How exciting that we have some aquarium keepers here. I've been focused on my shrimp aquarium lately and as of late, my Nepenthes plants.
Update for aquarium keepers: I had my first berried Wine Red Taiwan bee shrimp yesterday! Super stoked, I've had them for only 3 weeks so far. Can't wait for babies. Any other shrimp keepers here? Hit me up, lets talk nerd!

Nepenthes/Carnivorous plants update: Recently got a Nepenthes alba from a nursery here in the Bay (over in halfmoon bay). Super digging it, I'm looking to get more Nepenthes soon. Anyone keeping them as well? I would love to get in contact with you!
Nepenthes alba

No new real update with my Neofinetias per se... but I do have an update on my Dendrobium(s) that I got few months ago from Therese. This is my Dendrobium moniliforme 'Benikida' in bloom. They smell wonderful and despite having a cold for the past week and having almost no sense of smell, I can still get a whiff of it. It's wonderful and I'm suuuuper hating this virus I have right now because I can't fully enjoy it.
I'm actually not really sure about the culture for Dendrobium moniliformes. I've been treating them like neos right now, where there's a winter-rest. But do they really get a winter rest? I've been letting the sphagnum moss they're potted in, dry completely and let it stay that way for 3-4 days before watering them again. Anyone else keeping these guys? What's the method? I'm getting new growths AND I have buds and flowers forming from my other ones. So I can't be doing -that- bad, I assume. But knowing the actual care guide for these plants would be nice, if someone has info.

My neos are all resting right now. I'll snap pics when there are changes to update on or if anyone has requests for something. No new neos as of late, too broke!

I'm getting some winter blooms right now from other orchids that I have and it's great! I almost always have something in bloom and am so pleased.

Japanese Orchids are awesomeeee!!

Nice red bee shrimp u got there... how many do u have? I've got some sakura shrimp mixed with fire shrimp myself but I am not so good at keeping them firy red. I heard someone say that u have to isolate the best ones and let them breed... but I just don't have the extra aquarium space for it.

I used to keep shrimp... I do have a nepenthes. I've grown it for years and the pitchers are bigger than the leaves.

POE was this weekend. Got a bunch of new orchids and one new Nepenthes (N. hamata) to add to my collection. The only Neo that came home with me was a purchase I made today but was eyeing since yesterday.

Yamato-nishiki

The expo was amazing, although I feel as if the selection this year was not as great. Perhaps I went too late, as I did arrive on Saturday and apparently Friday was the busiest and best day to go.
It was great seeing Satomi and Coffeecup!

How lucky can you be? First you get to buy this gorgeous Yamato-Nishiki, and then you cross paths with Satomi AND coffeecup? I hope you bought a lottery ticket, cause you are sure going to win! LOL!
