thanks -
it's potted in a plastic pot - small fir bark, perlite, pumice, a couple of styro pnuts in the root mass ... so far, so good.

it's too hard to manage the moisture of a moss mound in the dry summers here - at least for me - moss and roots near the outer areas get crispy dry - but if you try to keep them from drying out, inner area stays too wet and roots rot.
I do now have a couple small neostylis' potted in very small clay pots with a small amount of sphag tucked around styro pnuts. These were not doing anything and had only one small root each. Rebounding well since repotting this way - but since there is such a small amount of moss it dries quickly and I just water frequently ...
congrats on your spike!

well - whatever I did previously didn't work for me during the summer - this one came potted in small fir bark, perlite, lava rock, some styro, and I seemed to keep it happy enough that way so I figured my best bet was to replicate the media as best I could ...
I can't wait to see pix of yours

What a beauty Sonya! I still have not been successful at reblooming mine. I have what looks like could be the start of a spike...right now they look like tiny claws...lol. Some have grown into new growths...but I'm not giving up! I'm just happy I have managed to keep them alive! I killed a few when I first started with them, and I'm sure I could still kill a few more if I don't watch my self closely with them...lol.

thanks Becca - I'm not sure how much credit I can take for these blooms - I did have the plant for a bit before seeing the spike, but I'm sure a fair amount of credit goes to the grower still. Tho I guess at least it's happy enough to still bloom.
I have a small neo division that has started new fans - it is hard to tell the difference between the new fans and spikes till they get bigger. I think the spikes - while appearing to have a claw, like the new fans - are flatter - tho I could be wrong.
This plant has a few flatter looking nubbies, and another that could be a new fan - tho just have to wait and see to be sure what they are - all are growing very slowly

i really think ine is a spike, im almost positive ( knock on wood ) also, starting at the lowest leaf, between every leafe has had a spike, and this one is the next intersection where a spike would be if it followed that pattern, and at the next intersection, there is a nubbie that looks like the spike did when the spike was beginning.
i will definitely get pics
