It is in a clay pot with big bark chunks. It has tons of roots too. Seeing yours makes me even more excited! How do you grow yours? What kind of light? How many times a year does it bloom? How long do the blooms last? Sorry about all the questions! Thanks in advance and thanks for sharing!

Wow that was a good find for $15! I try not to let mine dry out too much - it gets watered twice a week in spring summer and once a week when it cools off and the light's lower. On top of that, it's regularly misted as there are lots of aerial roots. It's up in a south-facing window where it's shaded from direct sun, but it still gets bright indirect light. It flowered mid-june last year, so, for me, that'd be once a year (but others might say different) and in between blooms it's grown a two potential bumps which haven't developed fully. Lastly, the length of bloom, I can't remember from last time, maybe a couple of weeks (?) but I'll have to check this time to give you a better idea. I think that's answered all your questions! The only thing I'd add is that, on our 'didieri' thread, it came up that these guys seem to be sensitive to water quality.

Thank you for answering my questions! I really appreciate it. I did read your didieri thread. Thanks for the water tip!

Welcome to the angraecum club, Wynn Dee! Glad to hear you are starting with such a nice one. I think I might get some blooms, too, and I am excited. I started out with a near blooming size so I had to wait. : )

Thanks! This is my first didieri. I also have two Aerangis fastuosa plants. One is a seedling and the other is blooming size. I have Angraecum distichum, Aerangis punctata, Aerangis distincta, and Amesiella monticola. The monticola has a little bud on it too but it is growing really slow! It is growing though! I can't wait tell one of them blooms.
So some people have said these guys are really sensitive to bad water quality. I use my tap water that comes from our well for most of my orchids. I haven't had any problems with it but I just started to use distilled water on my Sophronitis coccineas and a couple other plants. I just got all the above Aerangis/Angraecum plants except for the distichum, the monticola and the fastuosa seedling. I have had these three for a while. I got the distichum earlier this year and the other two I have had for a couple years. I got the fastuosa seedling just out of flask. These three have been getting my tap water ever since I got them and they have been fine. So I think my water is pretty good but I would like to hear other people's experience with water quality and these plants. Thanks again!

Someone told me that if the water isn't optimal, angraecums seem to do fine, even for a while, but then they will suddenly just die. I don't know how true this is as I have not used tap water so cannot speak from experience. I have softened water so tap water isn't an option. I have:
Angraecum didieri (3), Angaecum leonis, Angraecum magdalenae, Angraecum sesquipidale, Aeranthes Grandiosa (2), Aerangis ellissi, Aerangis citrata, and podangis dactylocera. I am not certain if the last counts but I don't know where else to catagorize it in my orchid list. Most of the angs are years away from blooming; the aeranthes were just out of flask, rootless and had four little leaves between them. Two didieri's are the only ones that are blooming size. I really love the look of the leaves with these so it is perfectly fine. When small, they are all very cute and I have been enjoying watching them grow. I am lucky that I rarely see anything but didieri's for sale or I'd likely have many more.

Hi Wynn Dee, You asked earlier how long the blooms last - This one opened fully a couple of days before I posted the thread and it died a couple of days ago. So, for me, this one lasted around a month

Thanks for letting me know how long the bloom lasted. My plant bloomed its first flower May 22 and a second flower a few days later. I don't know the exact day of the second one because I was gone on vacation while it opened. I will let you know how long my flowers last. I hope they last as long as yours did! Thanks again!
