Default Angraecum sesquipedale in spike - looking for advice

I purchased an Angraecum sesquipedale in late spring from a local grower just as it was losing it's last flowers. Today as the morning sun went through the leaves I saw a curious shadow that, upon closer inspection, was a new spike.

This will be my first time flowering an Angraecum sesquipedale and I wanted to see if anybody had any advice.

I'm curious if I should try to maintain current conditions exactly - if I should try keep temperatures as they are now or let it get a little cooler as the weather gets cooler. I'm curious if and at what point I should cut back what is all ready a pretty conservative fertilizing regiment. I'm also hoping that it is imperative to the development of flowers that I look at the spike constantly.

Just like other orchids keep it the way it is! the conditions that initiated the spike will be the same to keep it growing so dont change any thing. ive read that Sesquipedale gets ferilizer year round dont quote me on that Lol. my info could be wrong but thats what i have been doing and the plant is happy.

Mine too is in spike! its just rising from in between the leaves and is visible. its supposed to bloom close to X-mas so its gonna be a long wait!

Thanks. That's kinda what I figured, but I didn't see anything in the literature referencing seasonal changes and I wasn't sure how well it would take to my window in December as compared to my window in August.

Yeah, it looks like Christmas is when these guys bloom (in the northern hemisphere). That's a long wait (I was hoping for something sooner, like Saturday), but there is a lot of spike left to grow. If it was the fall temperatures that prompted the spike, then I imagine that you have a little bit of a jump on me, being further north, the spike on my plant has also just emerged from between the leaves.

its interesting isnt it! no matter north or south it starts spiking at about the same time!!! it must not be a temperature trigger then huh? im guessing its the photo period. longer nights indicate to the plant that its time to bloom.....Im just guessing, ive been trying to figure out what its trigger is.

Regardless im very excited for you and for myself! i have never seen these flowers in person and i hope this is the year i see them!!!
