Thanks everyone. The intensity of the color may be affected by temps. We have had an unseasonably cool spring, so I'm wondering if the spots would have been deeper/redder had it been warmer.

The lip in it's first bloom did have that bit of violet on it, though not quite as intense. I think the angle of the photo hides it.

@zxyqu, this is the 3rd spike this plant has put out. The first one never did anything, but it's still green so I'm leaving it on. The 2nd one is the one that bloomed all white. It too is still green so we'll see what happens next.

Anyone know it they can change colors from the same spike, or will your first bloom spike always be all white, etc. Such a cool orchid.

Peter Lin graciously told me that higher light yields full segments of red and sometimes all red flowers. I have a soon-to-be-first bloom of this and currently see only splotches of dark on the buds. I've moved it to give it more light.
