Well I'll take a different path. I say cut off the roots and repot without disturbing the roots and media. And do it after you have let it dry out for a few days. And here are my reasons. Number one....plants heal well all by themselves. Just like we do. And when you do it dry there is very little moisture bled by the plant and it heals quickly. Roots that are wet are full of water and susceptible to fungus and bacterial damage because the plant takes much longer to heal the damaged ends. With the root ends being dry it will take less than a day for the plant to heal itself. And if you dab a little cinnamon on the ends which you have cut, you halve your healing time because the cinnamon cauterizes the wounds. Second.....everyone who has plants that they fail to repot when it is obvious it needs to repot, end up with so many roots intertwined around the media and each other, they then do much more damage when they do repot. I say let the plant dry for a few days, cut the roots off that are sticking out of the bottom of the pot with a nice new clean razorblade, dab cinnamon on the ends to cauterize the cut ends, and repot into a pot just a little larger in which it is currently growing. Wait another day and then soak it. It is also currently in a rest period but is coming out of it soon with that new growth so this is a good time to repot.
