I agree with NYCorchidman and just wanted to add:
when you cut off the bad part of the leaf - sprinkle some cinnamon on the cut to make it dry and heal faster. Another thing I was successfully using for that - gel-like hand sanitizer. It desinfects the cut and dries it up without leaving brown edge on the cut leaf.

And yes, it does look like a natural color - quite beautiful too.
