Sometimes, the plants get stressed after a repot especially when it wasn't in ideal situation before. And it takes time for a plant to adjust from one condition to another.

I just went from sphag to LECA with no immediate reaction on a new plant. In the past, some had droopy leaves, stalled and aborted spikes. Then new leaves or roots would emerge. I have seen remnants of old rotted roots when I had to up-pot, so it happens.

Was it the transition or something else? Who knows but plants do things in their own time, not ours.

If that was my plant, I would let it go a couple of extra days dry for a few watering cycle to clear up that fungus/rot. Let the healthy roots stay white for a couple/few days but not to the point of wrinkling/shriveling. See how it goes.

It's hard to say exactly what I would do without living with the plant. One option I would consider if the rot progresses is to unpot it and grow it bare root until the rot stops.

Personally, I try not to apply chemical treatments too frequently. H2O2 and rubbing alcohol are okay for regular use but anything stronger/complex compound I use at label recommended frequency (usually a lot less; the minimum required to get the job done).

Good luck.

I have all my Phals in LECA. I find it best to soak them well, then let them dry completely before watering again. If the LECA doesn't dry quickly between watering, you could move it to a basket pot or melt some holes in the pot to increase air circulation.

Heres the latest development..
After witnessing the roots rotting and molding by the day,I took it out of the pot, soaked it in a weak solution of physan 20 and pout it back in the pot without media. Had to cut several roots unfortunately. The ones remaining don't look very good, like they are not very plump anymore
Any suggestion on how to take care of it at his stage? Shall I mist it daily? Or run it under the tap? Any tip?
Thank you all in advance!Phal from bark to leca-uploadfromtaptalk1429753427774-jpgPhal from bark to leca-uploadfromtaptalk1429753445793-jpgPhal from bark to leca-uploadfromtaptalk1429753459681-jpg

You still have plenty of roots. Water the roots daily, maybe even a couple of times a day. Once the rot is stopped, pot it back up with clean LECA.

I like to give my Phal roots more legroom..so I have them in a bigger container with side holes, and I make the plant lean a bit to the side, so the lower end is raised above the media. It already has roots so it does not need to be sitted too low into the media. It seems to like it better that way than being too choked tightly inside a container. If I have the space and humidity I would gladly mount them, but alas, I can't.

So far they seem happier now..and in bloom or spike too.

I do not use a lot of those chemicals either, seems more trouble when the plant is still trying to adjust especially when newly repotted.

This is my noid Phal that blooms yearly, this year it is giving me two spikes: This is still in its bark mix media

And this is my Phal Baldan's Kaleidoscope, it took awhile to adjust since I repotted it in 2013 and then changed again the media in 2014. But now it is in bloom. And those roots always finds a way to escape, just loves to get its own taste of air. I have repotted this using hygrolon wrapped in epiweb with some lava rock, some leca rocks and packing peanuts scattered loosely below

The Phal orchid in the white container is Phal stuartiana 'Sogo', it also likes sending out those long aerial roots..so I let it be. This one is still in bark mix.

We all have our potting media preferences and it does take them awhile to adjust to the repot. I guess it is also the timing when you do it. But what is important, give those roots good air circulation. It may take a few months to half a year at times, just depends on your local growing conditions there too.
