My plants don't sit in water, I drain it all out.
Good observation though! Thank you! Water at the bottom of the pot may be unnecessary.

I wasn't clear when first reading this thread that the water is put in the vase and then poured out again. Is sounded like it was left in.
I think if it's put in and poured out this method could work. I still prefer holes in the pots for it to drain out, but can't see why it wouldn't work.

I just received my first order from FirstRays! I'm going to try it on my mom's Sharry Baby first--it has at least six pbs, so I think it stands a better chance.
I know Ray has not had great success with Onc. Twinkle in s/h. Has anyone else tried the Twinkle?

Yep, and it does fine for me and has bloomed twice. It did have a learning curve for S/H in my instance, and I had to tweak its environment a bit while finding the right combo of light/humidity. It was formerly in a deteriorating bark medium so getting the roots going again took time.

I'm currently trying a couple of Sharry Baby in S/H. However the two pieces I put in it had no roots to begin with so if they fail it might have more to do with that than anything else. I split a large Sharry Baby and have two pieces mounted, two potted in bark and two in S/H, so we shall see what seems to do best.

I have had an Onc sharry baby in s/h [PrimeAgra pellets] for a little over a year. It just recently put out a 3 ft bloom spike. It loves s/h!

Correct - because my cultural conditions are not compatible with such a plant in S/H culture. On the other hand, I have read many "lack-of-success" stories from others here, referring to plants that absolutely thrive in S/H under my care.
It ain't just the plant that determines success or failure!!!

I was wondering if anyone has tried masdevilla's in leca? I think they like cool roots, and like to be moister, so has anyone tried it with sucess. Im thinking about transfering mine, but not until I get some feedback

I had some masdies in S/H for 1 1/2- 2 years and they did OK. No better or no worse than they did in either CHC or a bark mix. If you can grow them well in your current conditions they should do well in S/H. If you struggle with them like I do S/H won't magically cure your culture.
