Question Inverted Phal Spike Growing Towards Medium

Hello everyone, hope everyone is doing well.

Has anybody encountered such a thing, I have had a Phal in Semi-Hydro for a couple of years, a reliable bloomer.

This year something strange has happened with me, the spike started growing; and then started acting like a root; it punctured the leaf and appeared below, growing downwards towards the medium instead of upwards....

Any comments from the experts?

Thank you in advance.

It simply got 'trapped" by the leaf tissue. Assuming the plant is healthy enough, it will continue growing and emerge upward once it has cleared the leaf.

Take my word for it: anything you do to try to "help" will break the spike.

I agree with Ray, don't try and do anything about it, that's a sure way of breaking it. I've left ones like this in the past and they sorted themselves out.
