Default Phalaenopsis nutritional deficiences??

I am currently using Michigan State Formula fertilizer (pure water type) with RO water. This last year my phals have been growing with very short, very thick round leaves that are very closely stacked on top of one another. They literally look like green pancakes. This is appearing in both S/H and bark mix media. Any ideas anyone? I am using 1/4 tsp. very gallon at every watering with every third watering using only RO water. Could this be due to a nutrional deficiency in the MSU fertilizer?

MSU fertilizers differ greatly from manufacturer to manufacturer. You may need to add in some tap water, even though it's supposed to be a pure water type.

IF you're using the Greencare stuff (the original), it is designed to be used at about 3x the concentration you're using.

What you're talking about though, is not likely to be caused by a nutrient deficiency. The plants would just plain slow down if that was the issue. However, the pH could be affecting things. I suggest that you check the pH of the solution you're using to start with. (Assuming your medium is truly inert, it should not affect the pH in the least)
