Hi there woman!! Sorry if my post was confusing. I get mine straight from a mine (It's about 16 bucks for A LOT of black lava rock) and it's very dirty--lots of dust. So, I have to soak it and rinse, soak and rinse continuously for about 1-2 weeks. I soak and rinse in plain water....nothing added.

As a side note, the pieces that I get from this place are about 90% uniform in size--I like that I don't get that much stuff that I have to throw away. I think I get 1/4 inch pieces, if i'm not mistaken.

You're right Ray, he is growing them traditionally in LECA. I stand corrected. I need to be more careful about assuming that growing orchids in LECA means growing S/H. It's funny, because I grow my broms traditionally in LECA and don't assume they're S/H.

Cheers.
Jim
