Default Moving Orchids to SH

So the orchids I just purchased at the show that are in my other thread "how to care for orchids in bloom" I now want to put in SH. I have read that the Onc family do well in SH. So my question is this, Is there any preparation I need to do to the plant before I place it in SH. I know I need to take off the medium they are already in. I also know to remove any dead or damaged roots. But I was wondering about treating the orchids with cinnamon or Listerine or peroxide. Just wondering if these things are necessary and what they are for. Any help would be great.

Thanks,

Richard

Richard, try this:

1) Soak the root ball for 30 minutes in tepid water.
2) Unpot the plant, and shake it gently to dislodge the easy-to-remove medium.
3) Using your fingers, gently pry the remaining piece of medium from the roots.
4) Trim any rotted or broken roots.

Do not bother with any of the disinfectants.
