Trinimon, I hope you come back and read this.
My post was nothing more than a clarification, in hopes that folks don't get incorrect information.
In the 35+ years I've been growing orchids, I have heard, and even repeated a lot of bad information. Over about the last 10 years, I have made it a point to try to avoid that and apply some science and fact, instead.
As the inventor of semi-hydroponics in it's current state, I feel an added burden to help people understand what's really going on, and be correct in their discussion of it. If I didn't, I'd be concerned that a lot of bad info might be shared, leading to a lot of disappointment.
I'm sorry if that or my tone offends you, but if you liken it to teaching in a classroom, maybe it will seem more appropriate. You're lucky in that environment, as once you have gotten to know your population, you understand each individual's level of absorption, so can tailor your lessons appropriately.
Here, in a public forum, one does not know the population, and it is likely a mixture of kindergarteners and high-school seniors. Making the assumption that everyone is at the same understanding level would be a mistake.
