Orchid spike or root?
I rescued this orchid this past spring. Someone was throwing it out. It was not in bloom. It has grown one new leaf, and another is starting. I expect I have a new root, or could it be a spike?

My Mothers Day Orchid just moved in! Shes a little early, but that’s great! My daughter kills plants by just looking at them, so I got it early, rather than leave it in her care!

I just finished repotting it into a bark mixture....
I just finished repotting it into a bark mixture. I’m so glad I did. The plant was in a plastic sleeve with one drainage hole. The moss seemed dry all around but still very moist close to the plant....
