Well DeaC, you may have been right! After setting out the beer and pellets for 2 nights I didn't see any slugs or snails (or any traces of them), but I certainly noticed an influx of cockroaches....

It worked!
Well folks, I snipped off the dead roots and soaked the roots with Physan20. It looks like it did the job! Not to mention the flowers have not fallen off despite the torture I put it through!...
