Sounds good to me, remember phals do not need a lot of light. Normally I keep mine at a window that does not receive direct/harsh sunlight.

Well it is the winter season, and quite a few Dends lose their leaves during the dry period (winter), also many Dends bloom on leafless canes. Doesn't sound like too much of a problem.

Normally with some dendrobiums you don't...
