Default Help with Registration process

Hello, I'm new at this so bear with me. I just posted this in the Phal alliance section since it concerns that alliance, but thought I would post it here as well. Here is my problem: In 2004 I bought a replate flask with 5 orchids in it from a place called Quality Orchid Labs on eBay. I managed to get one plant to survive to blooming, and it's a very nice flower. As far as I can determine, the cross was never named, it is Dtps. Taisuco Firebird x P. Rousserole. I have searched the RHS database and there is no record of the cross registerd. I would like to register the cross as I would like to use it in my own hybridizing attempts. Quality Orchid Labs no longer exists on eBay and I can not find them in any search on the internet. It is my understanding that a person who blooms out an unregisterd cross can name it provided they have permission from the originator or have made attempts to contact the originator and were unsuccessful. Any thoughts on how I should proceed? Thanks!

JD,

I believe that the RHS will accept your registration if you can show that you have made every effort to find the actual hybridizer of the cross but have come up empty handed. They will list the cross with a hybridizer unknown but your name will be entered as the person who registered the cross.

Thanks CL, I'll see if anyone else posts any info about Quality Orchid Labs. If nothing turns up soon I'll give it a shot at registering it.

You can email the people at the registry, they will instruct you on the next steps. To my experience, they are pretty good about replying.

I also believe that Dtps. is now Phal. So try searching again under Phal. Taisuco Firebird
