Phalaenopsis Keiki is odd

My sister gave me a large white phal months ago after all the flowers had gone. I left the two spikes and they continued to spike more and more flowers! That brings to the next issue. When all the last blooms had gone 2 keiki had appeared on the last spike. One produced normal leaves. The second grew into a flower-like pod. I'm baffled by this. It's growth is so strange. Please help if you know what this is

Looks like the cells got really confused and couldn't decide between making a new spike or making a keiki, and ended up making something weird which is neither of them.

Although I've found Ray's reply really funny, I would let it be out of curiousity. Eventually it will grow roots and, who knows, some flowers.
That's just my scientific observational side of me talking.

Growth and development of any organism is a complicated process. What is surprising is that it goes right so often, not that it goes wrong once in a while. It is also possible that any mass market orchid has been though some level of hormonal manipulation during production, and effects from that may be seen for as long as that spike remains.

Most likely, if this growth continues to develop it will resolve into a normal keiki or spike. There is no harm letting it go to see what develops. Green tissue mostly supports itself and the growth does not stress the plant, but completely removing the spike may trigger a new spike to develop somewhat sooner.

I can't say for sure, but those look like nodes which somewhat grew out to appear as leaves. I don't think they will actually grow into keikis. However, I do think it's likely that the spike will grow and you'll get more blooms.

This orchid has to be from a mass grower/producer
It gave additional spikes off the original 2 for months! One spike browned and I cut it. This spike had growth on each node. All I did was water it....
I'm adding more pics. It looks like the top last leaf has a flower growing and the bottom has a spike. How knows but I'll see where it goes. Thanks again

With the exception of pic #2, I still believe that the rest are nodes, and won't ever be keikis.
