Flasking timeline
Hi everyone!
I harvested a pod from a mini cattleya, removed the seeds and stored them in a paper envelope in the refrigerator.
I ordered some flasking medium from Orchid Seed Project and it just arrived. I am wondering what my timeline for growing these will look like.
Can anyone tell me the approximate time from seed to the point where the protocorms have to be transplanted? I am going away for about 3 and 1/2 months and was wondering if I could reflask them when I return.
Cheers,
Winston

I use a lab to do my flasking, but typically they take 8-12 months from doing the mother flask, till they are ready to replate.

You may not even see much growth in 3 1/2 months, just small green protocorms. And still easily 6+ months after that before you have to think about doing anything.

Ok great thanks! Thats a timeline I can work with. Ill sow the flasks and put them in a growth chamber and check on them when I get back.
This is a cross of Bl. little mermaid 'Janet' AM/AOS and a great Rolfeara Rustic Spots I have. Both are super free blooming and have some ancestral overlap so they should breed well. I am hoping the rustic spots brings in some flower life length.
