I just deflasked 2 flasks of my own cross with Nobby's Amy.
Seeds were sown on 22 Feb 2012 and flasked by my propagator guy.
I came across trays at Home Depot that were going to be tossed, so retrieved a couple to use. The base has seedling bark and then there is a layer of sphagnum moss. I tried to wrap a little sphagnum around the roots to aid in water uptake. I haven't used a humidity dome as the humidity in my basement is at least 60%. However I will keep a close watch on the seedlings to make sure that they don't dry out. There is a range of seedlings, from pretty big to tiny - you can see by the photos. They all appear to be very healthy and I am pleased.

Update @ 10days. Haven't lost any, all doing well. Spraying at least 2x per week. With house aircon on, humidity has been to upper 50s overnight. Lights are still on for 12 hours.

this last photo shows mericloning in action. The plantlet in the middle is producing many more little plants. This occurs spontaneously in the flask ( sometimes aided by media ). I have a couple bundles like this, it will be interesting to monitor if there is further development.

---------- Post added at 02:42 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:29 PM ----------

of note:

I didn't sterilise the media
I haven't used any fungicide or bactericide
I fertilise roughly once per week. ( update - stopped fertilising so regularly, moved to a 6 week schedule )

......though I just bought some f/b, just in case !
The irony is that I would love that type of root growth on some of my mature plants !

Mericloning in action? And I thought I just had a clump of seeds that sprouted at the same time. I have a few of these bundles, so far they're stable, but not really growing. It's been about 3 weeks since I deflasked.

1st photo good example of a start in the mericlone process. This protocorm is misshapen and plantlets are looking to grow. Notice the washed-out colouring too.

strange growth on this one.....pyramid like. Could be because of its position in the flask, don't know.

a bundle that is apparently doing well, producing a lot of plantlets

update. I think the lights were a little low as the sphag started greening. I have raised them about 2 inches.
Plenty of root growth and most have 3 leaves. I am surprised at how quickly they grow, we'll see if it lasts.
