My Phalaenopsis gigantea is in buds, need pollen!!!
Hello!
One of my Phalaenopsis gigantea(the first one I got 2 years ago has started growing an inflorescence this fall and now the buds are about half grown. I would like to pollinate it with pollen from another Phalaenopsis gigantea and set pure seeds with it,and so I desperately need Phalaenopsis gigantea pollen!!! If anyone has stored P. gigantea pollinia/pollen or a Phalaenopsis gigantea flowering or about to flower, please conduct me! I am happy to share the resulting seeds or capsules 50-50.
Thank you very much in advance!

I've got one in late bud now myself. I'll gladly share some pollen with you.

Wow,thank you very very much Jarad for your willingness and fast reply, thats really great! We may even be able to exchange pollen then if the flowers last long enough!
Here are a few pictures of mine in bud!
I will post flower pictures as soon as they open but they probably need about a month more. Looking forward to see yours Jarad when they open!!!
I will send you a pm right away! Thanks again!

Holy crap! That's a baby in bloom. It's really rare to see them bloom on such small plants like that! You've obviously done a great hob. Some buds are just starting to orient upwards, while my other spike is just showing pea sized buds. Pollen exchange might work, but I'm still trying to decide on whether to pollinate mine. Might throw a different species on it instead.

Will these self pollinate? Just wondering - I understand that even if they will you want to bring new DNA into the mix, but I know some orc's will not fertilize themselves.

These will allow you to do sib crosses, but they wont do it themselves. Kostas, have these opened up yet?

Thank you very much Jarad for your kind comments!
I figured they wouldnt self pollinate and wanted to pollinate with an unrelated plant anyway, thats why i asked for pollen
The flowers have slowly been opening since last Saturday if i remember correctly and always grow/move faster after a good watering! I posted some photos of the opening buds at my original P. gigantea thread under the species Phalaenopsis category
Looking forward to see them all open and pollinate one!
