What Royal said is what I do. 10% chlorox for 10 min. This has less chance of killing the seed. I would open the pod and treat the seed you plan to sow, you can keep the rest for another attempt later if you want.

I don't quite get it..Use the normal strength 6% bleach to make a mixture of at a ratio of 1:10 (10% by volume). Dis u mean to use 10% of v/v of bleach? and for how long? 30 minutes should be enough right.

Did you read the thread "redneck orchid flasking" at the top of this forum? There are a couple of methods mentioned on how to sterilize the seed. I also tried petri dishes and have had too much contamination from the air exchange so I went back to jars. Good luck.

Royal have you used the petri dishes before? If you have how well did they work? I liked the concept and I still have a few that I made up about six months ago and didn't use for seeds and are not contaminated but overall the ones I used didn't work.
