I wish there was a mutant/ oddity section...but i'll put this in propagation as this is the result of keiki paste, i believe.
so i purchased this as a $3 Phal at Lowes for an office orchid...it had a viable spike so i applied a small amount of paste to a bract i exposed and generally forgot about it.
eventually i saw a little activity and sure enough a keiki. yay. i just monitored it and waited.
in the past i have had issues with using keiki paste and the keikis come but it takes FOREVER for them to grow roots....like years. and so i was watching this guy for roots and i thought i saw one yesterday.
I checked it again today and this is a new keiki, on the keiki…..i assume some of the paste was pulled up with the keiki and once it grew long enough to have a growth it was immediately activated. ????
the mother is very healthy with nine leaves, the longest at over 13" so i am not too worried about the stress of two keikis as opposed to one but will the new keiki get nutes and strength from the mother or the first keiki.
any risk of it hurting?
