Psychopsis spike?
 

I have never had a psychosis (Mendenhall "hildos") before. Mine is now in spike, and it looks like the first bud is starting to form. The spike is its first spike, as far as I know.
the spike is about 3 feet long.

So what I am asking about is whether in cross-section the bottom of the spike is round, and the top of the spike (in cross-section) is flat. Is this normal? Everything looks good. The leaf/P-bulb I grew was short and stubby, probably because the others were grown in Florida. To my knowledge that has not affected much. It is now inside, under lights.
