Mystacidium Capense on the mount is blooming!
3 Attachment(s)
It's my 3rd year of having this plant. It was gifted by husband's grandma. It originally came in an 2-inch pot with bark and two strings of blooms. Grandma also gave us this wood mount and we mounted the plant on it immediately. The plant just loves the mount and started to develop a lot of new roots. I water the plant 2-3 times a week. The moss was totally dried out between watering. The plant seems fine with that. This is the 3rd time blooming and it has 4 strings, over 30 flowers. I'm looking forward to grow it bigger and better.

Wonderful plant and blooming! How cool do you keep this one in the winter? Any change in watering?

I grow it by the north facing window in one bedroom, with additional 7 hours of LED light in the winter until midnight. I don't like to turn on the heat until the temperature falls below 60F and I set the heater to be at 63F. So during the winter, the temperature was between 55-65. I kept the window closed so the humidity was around 70% but the mount dried out totally after 2 days. So still watered it twice a week during winter. |
