Dendrobium Rainbow Dance
Another purchase from last summer as a replacement for the one I lost to spider mites a couple years ago. I discovered that the blooms are very fragrant from late morning to late afternoon, and smell like apricots! I keep it on my desk at work, and around lunchtime the scent of it makes me so hungry. I was a bit late taking the photos, 10 days ago it had over twice as many blooms. Since it's at work I needed to remember to bring a camera and a backdrop with me one day.
This hybrid is Den Kurenai x Den unicum, and Den Kurenai is 25% Den moniliforme. No cool winter rest needed, nor a dry rest for that matter. Regular, though decreased, watering in the winter helps prevent leaf drop. If watering is decreased too much it sheds leaves like crazy. It’s a rather compact plant (20cm tall), but a well grown and mature plant can get somewhat large. https://shutterbug.ponzio.net/_data/...85b12b7-me.jpg |
I love it!

I think I commented on a previous year's picture that you posted, and I like it just as much this year. It looks great in that pot, too.

Yeah, that pot is pretty fabulous...oh, and the plant!
I agree how wonderful the scent is, but I never associated apricots. Mine is currently in bud, will take a sniff next week. Jamie |
I love this one. I think perhaps I have commented on one as well.
