Credentials under name when posting
 

This is just a general question from a curious forum user. Under some people names on the forum, it will say, Jr. Member or Sr. Member, and others still have anywhere from one to five of the little tan orchid flowers under their name also. What do these different things mean and what are the requirements for them? I know the one that is blue and like fades out to a FS means that person is a forum supporter. Like I said, just a curious mind who appreciates the feedback!

I believe you become a Sr member by how many posts you have made. Maybe 100?

I think you used to be able to change it, but that might not be the case now. The forum software was recently updated and some things are different now.

I've only been a member for a month or so and have wondered about the same thing. I did notice when I was brand-new, it said "Jr. Member" under my name. Then I believe it was around 30 posts when it changed to just plain "Member." I'm guessing there is a magic number of posts when it changes to "Senior Member."

As far as the number of flowers after someone's name, I'm curious, too.

I'm not sure if that an indication of the addiction level. After 4 flowers you have no possible cure.:biggrin:

I think that the flowers relate to donations, or at least they used to. Have you donated, rbarata?

There are "levels" of membership. It's not a rating system, but rather just an indication of presence, and sort of archaic in a sense. I'm not sure of the exact sequence, but from 0-30 you're a "Jr. Member". Then you're a "Member". When you hit 100 posts you become a "Senior Member". I've been a Member here since 2008 but if I'd only just hit 75 posts I'd be just "Member" and not "Senior Member". At my age, I believe I've earned the title "Senior," but it only really does me any good at the grocery store.

The yellow flowers also indicate "level", or really just number of posts. I have no idea how many posts equals how many flowers, but the more posts you have the more flowers you get. Again, posting, "What a pretty flower" counts as a post just as does a long and informative narrative.

The pink flower that blooms into FS indicates that a poster is a Forum Supporter. Essentially, to get the FS flower you contribute. This Forum piggybacks on Marty's Mist King server, but there are expenses involved. I'm a supporter because this Board is important to me, and a small monthly contribution to help maintain it is gladly given. Again, though, it carries no other weight.

The name tags which carry more weight read "Moderator", "SuperModerator", and "Administrator". These are the people who post just like the rest of us, but work their butts off behind the scenes to maintain the board, and also the people who take the heat from members when things don't go our way. The extra weight their name tag carries is what they do, and about which we often don't even know, to make this a fine forum.

Thanks for that breakdown, I definitely agree that it is a great forum and there are a lot of helpful people on here that I have benefitted from several times.
