Dendrobium atroviolaceum x infundibulum
2 Attachment(s)
An intersectional cross between Section Latouria and Section Formosae. The plant resembles the mother with 20cm+, clavate, sulcate, yellow-green pseudobulbs, somewhat leathery leaves, which are more like the father, covering half the stem, instead of the latouria typical 2-3 coracious, dark green leaves.
The scape is just sub-apical and upright, 6 buds (maiden bloom). As a comparison to Formosae a foto of D. Hsinying Frostymaree 'Orange' buds, which are in pairs from the nodes along the cane-like p-bulb. I'll post fotos of the flowers in a couple of weeks. Jamie V. |
Exciting! I can't wait to see the flowers!

OK, we have flowers! Sparkling white and like fine wax. Five buds have fully developed and two are open, about 3cm across, no real fragrance (smells lightly fresh). Spike has remained upright coming from the top node.

Wow! Success, and a nice one! Interesting to see how the growth habits combined.
