So excited about this one, and I didn't even expect much out of it! Very small plant in a 3" pot. First bloom. Smells heavenly, super sweet like it's parent warscewiczii.

Ns 11.1 cm

The last picture, I tried my best to capture the fine golden freckles that grace the petals, just under the thick, velvety surface. Very hard to photograph, but they glisten in the sunlight. Couldn't be happier :)

Oh, orchid lust!

That bloom has lovely proportions! to say nothing of color.

A cracker! The spotting is a fascinating artifact. I wonder where it comes from. My seedling, also SVO, has two fabulous buds waiting to pop. I'll post it soonest for a comparison. And, yeah, the plant is still quite small. Hoping that, with Cyc. heerenhusanum in the background, we'll see real racemes on mature plants. Orchid lust? What ya talking, bro.

I know what you mean. Can't wait to see this bloom on a mature plant. I almost cut the spike as it was forming, the flowers are more massive than the p-bulb. It took a tumble as you can see in the top pic. I have a sib in bud as well, much bigger p-bulb on that one

Also a few of the Cyc. Kevin Clarke clones had gold spotting.

Now that is interesting. Maybe it is in the genetic from C. herrenhusanum, where most of the closely related species do carry some spotting. I've not grown this species. Does it have soft spotting? Not evident in photos I've seen, but beauty is a subtle creature.

I'm not quite sure on the spotting of herrenhussanum, I've not grown this species. From what I can gather though, it must be where the freckles are from. I'm sure I've never seen a spotted warscewiczii.

Herrenhusanum usually has a green base overlaid with yellow, but no spots. Its a stunning species to see in real life!

And I love this one! Its one of the roundest Cycnoches that I've seen.

Thanks Steve. I think it's an all around well balanced flower myself. Very full. But I'm a bit biased :)
