Chances for keikis

I have a Tolumnia (Oncidium) prionochilum (may have misspelled that) that just finished blooming on its main spike and now has two keikis from that spike sending up new blooms. One of the keikis has a root and the other just hasn't grown enough to see what it'll do. Do you think I'll be able to eventually remove it or is it only good for the bloom?

And here's the buds coming off the keiki

I would expect that it should continue along, and would be able to be removed at some point in the future.

Thanks, hope you're right!

You can help the chances of getting a new plant by spritzing the new roots with water or a kelp fertilizer. The roots will develop more quickly and strongly if they have plenty of moisture i.e. humidity. If that is a problem, you could even wrap them in a bit of sphag to help them along.

Often the spike will dry up and die, but the plantlet will remain alive. At that point it is dependent on you for water and food. You will need to spray it with water at least once a day or it will dry up.

Even very small plantlets can be mounted on pieces of wood, but they too will need daily watering or they will dry up.

Well lately it's been getting rained on a bit every day so hopefully with September coming up that'll continue
I'll definitely be watching it, I'm sure i can bend it towards a branch it could attach to
